TAT 131 The Inch

In Revelation 13:11–18 we read of one who has worldwide control over all humanity. Without their approval no one can buy or sell anything! While they have control of the entire world they are also the enemy of God. How is it possible that such a person could obtain such control over this earth? Possibly because of fear!

Most of us believe that if someone put a gun to our head and said “deny Christ or I will shoot” we would not fear, we would say “pull the trigger.” But the greater problem, a lest fearful problem, is a problem of inches. Back in the early 1900s the government tried to implement a Social Security program which would require everyone to receive a specific, individual, number. It was met with such resistance the government had to first implement it as a voluntary program and stated, in writing, that the numbers would not be used for identification purposes. My Social Security card, obtained in the 60s, has, in writing, in capital letters, the statement “FOR SOCIAL SECURITY AND TAX PURPOSES – NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION.” The government has “inched” its way along to its present position with required Social Security and identification. Another example of “inching along” is realized in treaties the government made with some Native American tribes: “as long as the grass grows and the water flows.” Therefore it is true, it is not the gun we need to fear the most but the inch.

In this time of fear let us not establish a flimsy framework of control which can inch along into a worldwide system of control that can be used by a future antichrist.

On the bright side, it might be nearing the time for us to say – “just pull the trigger?”.

Eternal Light

Eternal Light

Look at your life in the light of today and you will see your sin;
Look at your life in the light of eternity and you will see your glory—His eternal glory:

If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.
(1 Corinthians 15:19)

Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (Revelation 19:7–8)

Workout

Spiritual Strength
How was your workout this morning? A good breakfast? It has been said that: “You are not a physical being having a spiritual experience, you are an eternal spiritual being having a temporary physical experience.”

You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; . . . talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up. (Deuteronomy 11:18–19)

“MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.”  (Matthew 4:4)

So let me ask again: How was your workout this morning?

Eternity

Dust & Eternity

Today I awoke with no wonderful thought about things above, I was dry, and when I looked around all I saw was dust. What a comfort it is to know that my dryness and this dust will soon pass away – FOREVER!

while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

(2 Corinthians 4:18)

Regret

Regret & Expectations

It seems that some of our expectations have produced regret. It also seems that some of our remembered regret causes us to lower our present expectations. Let us once again raise our expectations.

Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:13-14 NET)

Our Country

Things Above Thoughts (TAT)
Heavenly Citizen

I’m glad we have a day to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we might live free in this country.

We should be proud of our country and be good citizens and hopefully our parents are proud of us for this:

But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them. (Hebrews 11:16)

Let us remember the – One – who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we might be free from Satan’s rule. And may our desire for our – heavenly country – make the Father proud of us.

Impact Heaven?!

I use to think I had no impact on heaven but then I read:

I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents. (Luke 15:10)

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven . . . (Matthew 6:20)

I’m glad I repented of the thought that I have no impact on heaven.
I wonder what else can I do this week to impact heaven?

Lips or Life?

We talk with our lips. We talk to people, the people in front of us, the people behind us, the people on the phone, the people in our family, to friends, to strangers, we even talk to our enemies.

We project our feelings with our lips; we even reveal our minds and what we think of ourselves.
And with our lips we also lie to ourselves, to the rest of the world, and create conflict.

But it is our daily lives that scream out our character, our goals, and our God – or our gods. Therefore remember:

make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands,  (1 Thessalonians 4:1)

I (the Lord) deal with each person according to how he has behaved. I give them what they deserve based on what they have done. (Jeremiah 17:10 NET)

Spiritual Values

Things Above Thoughts (TAT)
Spiritual Values

Have you ever considered what God thought about Job?

When Job was rich and had a wonderful family and was “the greatest lf all the men of the east” God thought:

“There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” (1:9)

When Job was dirt poor, with no family and probably the least of all the men of the east God thought:

“There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil.” (2:3)

After Job had verbally rebuffed his friends and spoken about his confusion with how God had dealt with him God thought:

Job was His servant and had spoken what was right about God! (42:7–8)

No where in the book of Job does God think any less of Job because of his physical situation or his mental confusion and honest examination of God. God only thinks about Job’s righteousness.

What do you think about? What does God think about you?

Pitiful Me

Things Above Thoughts (TAT)

Pitiful Me

Linda Ronstadt sings a sang “Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me” it always reminds me of American Christianity. Yes, the Lord has shed many blessings on us but most American Christians still seem to fall into the “Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me” category. If we are only seeking a blessing from Him this week we probably fall into the “Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me” category. Why is that?
Consider these two points:

“If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
(1 Corinthians 15:19 NIV)

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (2 Corinthians 4:17 NIV)

So are you looking for a blessing –  this week – or for those that will last – for all eternity?

Our Great Witness

Whether any person sees us or not each thought we think and each action we take is observed! Our words and our lives are always a present witness. This is what the Lord revealed in Ephesians 3:8–10:

To me (Paul)– less than the least of all the saints– this grace was given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ and to enlighten everyone about God’s secret plan– a secret that has been hidden for ages in God who has created all things. The purpose of this enlightenment is that through the church (God’s spiritual family) the multifaceted wisdom of God should now be disclosed to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms. (NET Emphasis added)

Our smallest thoughts and actions are always observed in heaven and have huge affects on certain heavenly rulers and authorities for all eternity!

Therefore it can be said that the results of what we say and do today will precede us into heaven and accompany us throughout all eternity. So I say: “Let us watch the small pieces of our lips and lives, they are more important than we know.”
