STUDY

GOD HAS REVEALED HIS WILL

He made known to us the mystery of His will, . . . that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. (Ephesians 1:9–10)

For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. (Colossians 1:19–20)

God’s will for all creation is to reconcile all creation (every thing on earth and in heaven) back to Himself. God will bring everything back under His rulership for all eternity – everything from angels to dirt – forever.

GOD’S WILL REVEALED
All creation was created perfect and operated under God’s perfect rulership (Genesis 1:1–31; Psalms 103:20; Genesis 1:28). Not only did God create everything, He created perfect laws by which everything operated perfectly. He created the laws by which all the angels, the universe, all vegetation, all animals, and all humans operated.

Satan rebelled against God’s perfect rulership and was allowed to establish his own area of rulership (Ezekiel 28:13–16; Isaiah 14:13–14). One third of the angels followed him (Revelation 12:4). All of humanity followed him (Genesis 3:1–7; 1 Corinthians 15:22a). Satan now has angelic followers in the heavens and humans here on earth; this constitutes his area of rulership (Revelation 12:4; 2 Corinthians 4:4).

Some points must be clarified: 1) Creation is separated into three “heavens.” The first heaven appears to be the atmosphere above the earth (1 Kings 21:24). The second heaven, the universe, where all the stars and planets exist (Genesis 26:4). And the third heaven, the perfect heaven where God resides (2 Corinthians 12:2–4). 2) Satan established an area of rulership among angels and humans and that rulership includes the earth and the first and second heavens. This is why God says He is going to reconcile (unite) all things on earth and in heaven. All creation is no longer unified under God’s rulership. 3) There are two rulers, God and Satan. God’s plan will resolve this dual rulership situation and unite all creation for all eternity under His perfect rulership.

The process of this universal and eternal uniting is called “reconcile.” The biblical definition of “reconcile” is: “To bring back into unity” and biblically speaking this is unity with God under His rulership. God is going to bring all creation, everything from angels to dirt, back under His wonderful rulership; this is a total reconciliation of God’s eternal rulership.

God has two methods in the process of His plan of reconciliation (eternal rulership), the friendship method and the forced method. Even our English language reveals these two methods: “To restore to friendship or harmony” and “To cause to submit to or accept something unpleasant” such as “he was reconciled to the hardship.”

God’s friendly method is now being offered to humans and is revealed in 2 Corinthians 5:18–20:

Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

And, God’s forced method which will be set in place at a future time as revealed in Philippians 2:9–11:

so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

For those humans who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord over their daily lives will spend eternity with God in heaven under God’s wonderful rulership (Revelation 20:1–21:5). Those humans and angels who reject and rebell against God will spend eternity away from God but under His forced eternal rulership, just as convicts in prison are forced to obey the rulership placed over them  (Revelation 20:1–15). And just as God has promised all creation will be set free from Satan’s rulership (Romans 8:20-22); it will be made new and only God and his new system of rulership will reign – forever (Revelation 21:5).

Presently all creation is suffering under the effects of Satan’s rulership (Romans 8:22; Hosea 4:1–4). But God is in the process of offering a friendly reconciliation to all people (2 Corinthians 5:14–15). And He is also in the process of destroying Satan’s rulership and bringing about a forced unity under God’s rule (Acts 2:34–35).

SUMMARY

God’s eternal will for all creation is to destroy Satan’s rulership and bring everything, not just humans, back under His wonderful rulership, a total reconciliation; this means everything from angels to dirt – forever. (God’s LIGHT has broken through Satan’s darkness.)
